Overview

Amato’s Pizzeria & Grill, situated on 308 S Main St in Farmville, VA, is a notable spot for Italian cuisine enthusiasts seeking hearty, authentic flavors in a casual setting. This Italian restaurant combines classic pizzeria fare with grilled specialties, making it a versatile choice whether you crave a wood-fired pizza or a rich pasta dish.

The standout here is undoubtedly the pizza. Customers frequently praise the BBQ Chicken and Meatlovers varieties, highlighting a balance of fresh toppings and perfectly melted cheese that arrives hot and satisfying. The crust strikes a pleasant balance between crisp and chewy, which is a key feature for any great pizza. For those inclined toward pasta, the tortellini is a must-try, as the sauce delivers a unique, memorable depth of flavor that keeps diners coming back.

Service at Amato’s tends to be quick and courteous, even during busy periods, enhancing the overall dining experience. The dining space itself is modest but comfortable, providing a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere to enjoy your meal. Some visitors have noted the space might feel tight during peak times, and on hotter days, the air conditioning could use improvement.

Though the sandwich offerings such as the Wise Guy sub have received mixed reviews, the restaurant’s strength lies clearly in its Italian specialties. This makes Amato’s particularly attractive for those craving pizza or pasta in Farmville’s growing culinary scene. It caters well to families, groups of friends, and casual diners who appreciate straightforward, well-executed Italian food without fuss.

Overall, Amato’s Pizzeria & Grill is a worthy addition to Farmville’s dining options, with its main draw being flavorful pizzas and standout Italian entrees delivered in a friendly environment. I was hoping this was going to be a hidden gem but it does not seem to be. I had a Wise Guy sub at lunchtime and it was just ok. $14 plus tip for a mediocre sandwich. And the vibe here is not good, no atmosphere, even for a deli. I would try the pizza because that would be the only way I see for this place to redeem itself.

I decided to try the newest addition to Farmville's food scene. I picked up a BBQ Chicken pizza and a Meatlovers with mushrooms & feta cheese. The service was quick even though there was a large order before me. The staff was very pleasant and courteous. The pizza was hot and tasted amazing. I highly recommend thier pizza and will be getting pizza from them again.

This was a very nice place to eat. The air conditioning was not working well, likely because it was 96 degrees out. The food was good and the service was great. Eating area a little small but comfortable.
